The Pan-African Institute of Municipal Development is committed to supporting African country national development strategies by fortifying the building blocks of municipal and local governance. Our mission is to support municipalities in meeting the needs of the communities they serve and in doing so, promote sustainable local economic development and facilitate Africa’s transformation into a global powerhouse of the 21st century.
The successful transformation of the African continent into a global powerhouse requires local and municipal organizations to have the technical capacity to drive inclusively designed strategies, policies, and mechanisms to improve information sharing, service delivery, and accountability to their residents and constituents. This requires a structured framework for PIMD to align tailored strategies and effectively monitor performance indicators to advance municipal development.

ICMA was honored to have participated in the Good Governance Executive Leadership Program managed by PIMD in 2022. The program was well developed and organized and ICMA valued the exchange with the participants- local government officials and technical directors from Senegal. As an international membership association, ICMA values these types of engagement which provide opportunities to share good practices and improve good governance worldwide.
